Callen B. Thistle
Callen is a skilled legal researcher and writer. She honed these skills as a law clerk to the Honorable Staci G. Cornelius in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama for nearly a decade and now uses them to craft persuasive written advocacy for the firm’s clients in complex cases and appeals. In Judge Cornelius’s chambers, Callen assisted in the disposition of hundreds of civil cases spanning the breadth of federal subject matter jurisdiction and drafted memorandum opinions and orders on topics ranging from threshold jurisdictional questions, pre-trial discovery, and the reliability of expert witness testimony to substantive claim analysis, fee awards, and post-judgment discovery. Callen also assisted Judge Cornelius in the handling of motions to suppress, competency issues, and other pretrial matters in criminal cases.
Before serving as a law clerk to Judge Cornelius, Callen worked in private practice. She has degrees from Princeton University and Emory University School of Law. Between college and law school, Callen worked as a gallery assistant in a contemporary art gallery and an editorial assistant and writer at a business magazine.
Callen serves on the Board of Governors of Indian Springs School and on the Parent Auxiliary Executive Committee of Highlands School. She and her husband, also a lawyer, spend their time outside of work with their two young children.
